Six weeks of roadworks aimed at improving a number of routes across Reading for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists gets underway today (Monday July 26).
Reading Borough Council's road resurfacing works have been timed to coincide as near as possible to the school summer holidays to try and minimise any disruption.
Richard Willis, Lead Councillor for Planning and Transport at Reading Borough Council, said: "At a time when budgets are under severe pressure I am delighted that Reading is able to go ahead with a major road resurfacing programme this summer. Despite the inevitable temporary disruption, this will improve the road for all users and continues the restoration of our network after last winter's severe weather. I apologise to anyone who will be disrupted but hope that they will appreciate the positive impact in the longer term."
