A post-mortem on the body of a Reading teenager who died whilst on a canoeing holiday is due to take place on Tuesday.
13-year-old Stewart McEwan, from Earley, was airlifted to hospital after being rescued from the River Usk in Wales on Saturday but was later pronounced dead
The teenager, who'd just been signed by Reading FC, had been taking part in a trip organised through his school.
In a statement, Stewart's parents said, "We are devastated by the loss of Stewart. He was a boy who grabbed life. He loved his sport and there wasn't anything he didn't enjoy.
"We were very proud of all his sport achievements particularly when he was signed by Reading Football Club."
The club will talk to Stewart's parents about how they should pay tribute to him at Saturday's game against Southampton.
Chairman John Madejski said, "This is devastating news and our sincere condolences go to Stewart's family, who we will of course try to support in any possible way."
