Match Day Coverage

Matchday coverage of Reading FC

Reading 107 Royal Box team provides full match commentary on all of Reading Football Club's games. Home or away, league or cup, hear it live on 107 FM.

Reading107 is able to broadcast live match commentary as part of a national agreement between all league clubs and local media organisations. This agreement gives us the right to broadcast full match commentaries on our FM frequencies - but NOT to a wider audience beyond our transmission area. That right is retained by each individual football club.

It's important to stress that this ruling is part of that national agreement and also applies to every other local radio station in the UK

If you choose to listen to match day coverage by Reading 107 on the internet, you will hear all pre-match build-up and post-match analysis - but cannot hear live match commentary, as no local station owns broadcasting rights for the internet.

Locally, the sole rights belong to Reading World - which is available by subscription at http://www.readingfc.co.uk

FAQs:

Q: Why can I listen to commentary on 107 FM, but not by listening live on the internet?

A: Reading 107 has broadcasting rights for full match commentary within our own transmission area on 107 FM. As every radio station's internet feed can be listened to anywhere in the UK (or in some cases, anywhere in the world), no local station has the legal rights to relay live match commentary on the internet. These rights remain with each football club and its World subscription service partner.

Q: So, can I listen live to commentary on another local radio station?

A: No. All local radio services (whether Commercial or BBC) are bound by the same agreement and are not permitted to relay live match commentary on the internet. This service is only available through the Reading World subscription service.

Q: But I live in Berkshire - why should I have to pay a subscription to hear your match commentary on Reading World?

A: If you live in READING 107's transmission area, you can listen to our coverage live on 107 FM.

If the internet is your only listening option, unfortunately no local station is allowed to provide live match commentary. This agreement applies equally to every local radio station and league football club across the country.

Reading World is committed to providing the best possible coverage of The Royals' matches and we believe they have chosen Reading 107's Royal Box team to provide the best coverage of the action as it unfolds.

Q: If I listen to the internet feed while the match is in progress, will a presenter update the score or give details on the match?

A: No - READING 107's internet feed relays a separate music programme while the match is in progress. This begins a few minutes before kick-off and continues until shortly after the end of the game.

Q: Is it expensive to subscribe to Reading World?

A: While it is in no way connected to Reading 107, we believe it represents extremely good value as there are many additional benefits by subscribing. See their website for further details: www.readingfc.co.uk

Q: I still don't think it's fair - can I take this matter up with either Reading 107 or Reading Football Club?

A: This arrangement is part of a national legal agreement between ALL 92 league clubs and the local radio stations which serve their area. No single individual radio station or club is able to modify any part of this agreement.

Q: I've got my Reading 107 live player up, the commentary is over and it still isn't returning to the normal output. Why is this?

A: This can be due to a couple of different problems. Firstly, it can take 10-20 minutes for our team to re-engage the live output again. Secondly, the online stream will not change automatically, so if you want to listen to normal output, and the commentary finished a while ago, simply close down the live media player and start it back up again.
