Council workers across Reading are on strike for a second day.
Teaching assistants and bin men are among those who've walked out in a row over pay.
The following services will be affected:
Civic Centre
If industrial action goes ahead as planned, it will mean the Civic Centre will be closed to the public in the 48-hour period. Residents are advised to bear this in mind and make alternative arrangements if they had planned to access services from the Civic on that day, this includes residents who wish to access the Cash Office or the Post Office.
Rubbish & Recycling Collections
Domestic and recycling bin collections across Reading will also be affected by the industrial action should it go ahead. Collections crews will be working on both Saturday 19 July and Saturday 26 July to catch up with the backlog of collections due to no collections taking place on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July.

- Usual collection Thursday 17 July - revised collection Saturday 19 July
- Usual collection Friday 18 July - revised collection Monday 21 July
- Usual collection Monday 21 July - revised collection Tuesday 22 July
- Usual collection Tuesday 22 July - revised collection Wednesday 23 July
- Usual collection Wednesday 23 July - revised collection Thursday 24 July
- Usual collection Thursday 24 July - revised collection Friday 25 July
- Usual collection Friday 25 July - revised collection Saturday 26 July
Collection days will revert to normal from Monday 28 July.
Schools
The Council is in the process of collecting data where possible. In the meantime parents can contact the schools directly for further information.
- Holy Brook School will be closed on Wednesday 16 July only
- Phoenix College will be closed on Thursday 17 July only
- The nursery class at New Town Primary School will be closed on Wednesday 16 July only
Community Care Services
The Council will be unable to provide Transport Services or Day Care on the proposed industrial action dates of Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July. Care Managers will contact service users to discuss their needs during this 48 hour period.
The Council is discussing exemptions to the industrial action to ensure the needs of vulnerable adults continue to be catered for throughout the period.
Housing Repairs
The Housing Repair service is expected be in operation, however non-urgent repairs may be delayed until the 48-hour period of industrial action is over.
Libraries
The following libraries are likely to be affected by industrial action:
- Central Library - Floor 3 is likely to be closed on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July
- Caversham Library - likely to be closed on Thursday 17 July
- Palmer Park Library - likely to be closed on Thursday 17 July
- Whitley Library - likely to be closed on Thursday 17 July
