Historic Reading pub may be saved

An historic Reading pub may be reopened following a campaign by residents.

The Jolly Anglers on Kennet Side in Newtown was suddenly shut down in June by Enterprise Inns, who sold it on the condition it didn't reopen as a pub.

But a deal's being discussed with the new owners and West Berkshire Brewery to reopen it.

Reading East MP Rob Wilson, who was involved with the campaign to save the pub, has welcomed the news, saying, "This is great news and a great success for our campaign to keep the Jolly Anglers as a pub."
