THE ROYAL BOX BIG PRIZE GIVEAWAY
Throughout the season, Reading 107 has given away a number of unique prizes which money can't buy. From replica shirts signed by the Royals squad to VIP hospitality packages and signed footballs, Reading fans across the world have won something special - for just the cost of a text, Tweet (message using Twitter) or e-mail.
One of The Royal Box's most popular competitions has been the chance to win a match day with Reading 107. This offers the lucky winner the chance to see how the programme is put together before watching the game as part of the commentary team from the gantry high in the Madejski Stadium.
It's an opportunity to learn about the 'behind the scenes' workings of a radio programme, but also gives you the chance to enjoy meeting the players and the manager as we conduct the pre and post match interviews.
In March 2010, one of our regular contributors from the Isle of Wight - Philip Petty, who has been a Royals fan for many years - won the chance to join us for the game against high-flying West Bromwich Albion. Philip is better known as 'Pyro' from his days playing in a band in Reading and never misses a game through Reading 107 and the Reading FC Player.
After getting up early to catch the ferry to Portsmouth, he then embarked on a lengthy journey by coach and local buses to join us for the day. Afterwards, Pyro described the day as one he would never forget.
"I had a fantastic day and loved meeting you all," he said. "You were all very nice and I now have a good insight on how you knock the show out! I loved having my picture taken with Brian McDermott and have showed all my mates! One of them heard me on the pre-match coverage as I sent links out to Reading 107FM!"
We're glad Pyro enjoyed his day; here are some of his treasured pictures - with Brian McDermott, Jay Tabb and the slightly wild looking bloke giving the thumbs up is Reading 107's match commentating legend Peter Hood.
