Hi!
I know, I know...blogs are by nature very random, but not SO random that they're 3 months apart! Slapped wrist for me from the Reading 107 Web-God (can I sue him for that?).
Anyway...now that I've returned from a GREAT holiday, I'll be keeping this bit upto date (ish). My hols were to Ireland, then Scotland...not the most exotic corners of the planet you may think, but probably the best time I've had on hols, forever ever!
The main purpose of going to Ireland was for the Oxegen festival...kind of like Reading Festival but a bit more poppy I suppose. Bands like Scouting for Girls, Stereophonics, Amy Winehouse (she came, she sang, she conquered!), the Ting Tings, Hoosiers, and...well, lots! Those were just on the one day I was there...it's actually a 3 day festival so there were quite a lot of muddy/drunken campers there too (80,000 in total). Very good...will call again!
Also went to Galway on the West Coast...beautiful place. Def go there again too!
The highlight of the Scottish leg was probably a "Bluegrass Festival". Different to the previous weekend described above (just a bit!!), but very good fun. Kind of like country music (Bluegrass fans would prob crucify me for saying that), with lots of thigh-slapping choons, all in a village hall with various levels of fancy dress/hat wearing skills (or maybe they just dress like that in the highlands anyway?). Having spent a week in Ireland, then a week in Scotland and now mixing the accent with American deep south singing, I'm suprised anyone can understand my dialect! (Add in the fact that the whole time was spent with my Czech-mate and I sound well weird. No change there then, thanks. Thought I'd say it before anyone else).
(Actually it's a toss-up between that being the Scottish highlight, or when Cz went into the loo at Costa Coffee and pulled the orange alarm cord thinking it was the lightswitch and sent the staff into emergency mode. There almost WAS an emergency when I nearly died laughing).
Now...to the show this week! Just a quick note that since I returned on Tues, we've had a "Website Of The Day" during the Live Lunch. They've been:
Tues: www.contractionmaster.com
Weds: www.tv-ark.org.uk
Thurs: www.handlebarclub.co.uk
Another to wrap up the week tomorrow, when I'll also be talking to Levi Roots (Reggae Reggae Sauce man from TV's "Dragon's Den"), plus tickets to giveaway to ladies who do golf!
Have a nice day/week/however long it is 'til I update this again*
(*delete as appropriate).
