Quickfire Q&A
Full name: Robert John Matthew Kenny
Birthday: March 6th
Starsign: Pisces
Nickname at school: Didn't really have one, but for a while I was called "Dalglish" as in "Kenny Dalglish". I took it as a compliment being a Liverpool fan, but it was only the name connection and not for my outfield skills! But I was the Reading School's top goalie when I was about 10!
Where did you go to school and were you naughty? St. Anne's Primary in Caversham, followed by Presentation College in Southcote (now the Elvian School). I think generally I was good, though I did have a complaint from one girl's Mum at St. Anne's that I was a bit over ambitious when playing kiss-chase.
First job - and would you do it again? Working in a shop that sold curtain fabrics, and going to people's homes to measure what they need for curtain tracks/poles etc. I probably would do it again - it was pretty good fun, though it really depends on who you're working with and not necessarily what you're doing. Perhaps I should just get all the fabric shop team to come and work at Reading 107?! It'd probably be curtains for my career...but I could sign off with "Material Girl"...I knew all those so called "jokes" would come in handy sometime.
While the music’s playing, what do you do? Read the paper, read emails, read texts. A lot of reading - that's why we're called Reading 107, see.
Do you have any embarrassing albums in your collection at home? Not that I can think of...though I haven't seen most of my albums for ages 'cos so much of it's on vinyl and I don't have a record player. You'd find anything from Spandau Ballet to Razorlight in there. Actually I've just thought...I did buy Hazell Dean's album about a hundred years ago... I suppose that's quite high on the embarrassment scale!
Favourite place to eat? Loads of places, but The Griffin in Caversham gets a special star.
Favourite pub? Loads of places, but The Griffin in Caversham gets a special star.
Reading’s best-kept secret? Caversham Court. Used to go there when I was little and remember having "rolling down the hill" races against my sisters. It's just occurred to me that maybe they wanted me to keep rolling into the Thames?? When I was that young I didn't really appreciate it's proximity to The Griffin. Is there a theme emerging here?
